Mr. Steven Barnett has served for many years as the Marion County Historian, as the President of the Irvington Historical Society, and recently as a Director of GSMC.His font of knowledge about Indianapolis and Marion County is unmatched and our Society is fortunate to benefit from his services.
Ms.Wilma Bible-Collier rescued a collection of Brightwood and St. Paul Methodist Church records from being discarded and submitted the same to be digitized and preserved as a significant addition to Marion County history and genealogy. [2022]
Ms. Amy Booher has spent considerable time and effort in the past year helping to create numerous new resources for Marion County genealogists. This involved scanning and data entry tasks that enrich our online data collection. [2023]
Mr. Barry Browning has served for many years as the President of the Perry Township/Southport Historical Society and as a primary source of those genealogical and historical records. He worked with GSMC for a significant time to prepare Perry Township records for Society digital imaging.
Ms. Barbara Cline Hutchinson, a charter member of GSMC, has dedicated extensive volunteer time as an officer of the Society, and has conducted a strong outreach program as the current President, resulting in significant additions to Marion County history and genealogy. [2022]
Mr. Ronald L. Darrah has dedicated extensive volunteer time in discovering, digitizing, and placing online extensive Indianapolis Public Schools records, thereby creating a significant addition to Marion County history and genealogy, and has shown a long-term commitment to preserving Marion County records.[2022]
Ms. Barbara George donated a significant collection of Danish Evangelical Trinity Lutheran Church records to our collection and has demonstrated a long-tern commitment to Marion County genealogy. [2022]
Ms. Jenny Greene has been a constant presence in our volunteer ranks over several years and has not hesitated in performing new tasks when requested. She especially excells in cemetery-related resource development. [2023
Ms. Sharon A. Kennedy researched and published her book, “Memories of Cerealine Town,” a significant addition to Marion County history and genealogy, and has shown a long-term commitment to preserving Marion County materials. [2022]
Mr Barry Levitt, a long-time GSMC member, has served an extended term as both the Society Treasurer and the Society Webmaster. These two highly technical positions are critical to the success of our Society, and we commend Barry for his dedication to GSMC. [2023]
Ms. Marlena Linne spent the last several years being the liason between the Franklin Township Historical Society and GSMC. She provided many documents and other sources that we scanned and placed on our website. Marlena continues to add materials for both Franklin and Warren Townships. [2023]
Mr. Duane Perry, a skilled and published genealogist, is a member of the African American Genealogy Group in Indianapolis. As also an original member of the Community Advisory Group (CAG), formed by the City to support the Greenlawn Cemetery/Henry Street Bridge Project, Mr. Perry has invested a significant amount of time and effort in documenting the African American burials in that site.
Ms. Jeannie Regan-Dinius served for many years in the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as the Coordinator of the SHAARD cemetery database, and just recently transferred as the Director of Historic Preservation of Crown Hill Cemetery. In both of these positions Ms. Regan-Dinius is and has been of great value to Marion County historians and genealogists
Ms. Jordan Ryan has had a significant and varied career as a history-oriented force in the Marion County area and just recently became the Indianapolis City-County Archivist.In many of her positions Ms. Ryan has been of great value to Marion County historians and genealogists, and GSMC is looking forward to working with her in her new challenge.
Ms. Janet Stroebel has spent considerable time and effort in the past year helping to create numerous new resources for Marion County genealogists. This involved scanning and data entry tasks that enrich our online data collection. [2023]
Mr. Donald F. Weber has dedicated extensive volunteer time in extracting “Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Records,” thereby creating a significant addition to Marion County history and genealogy, and has shown a long-term commitment to preserving Marion County records. [2022]
